This 1 day seminar is designed for the patrol officer or patrol supervisor who desires to have a basic understanding of commercial vehicle enforcement issues, with emphasis upon inspecting and weighing commercial vehicles.  The course will familiarize the officer with the laws, rules and regulations specified to the trucking industry.  Federal DOT and PUCO regulations and Ohio laws will be reviewed.  Basic mechanical systems of commercial vehicles will be explained.  In addition, the height, weight and length laws within the ORC will be discussed.  Finally, a review of commercial vehicle criminal patrol and drug interdiction techniques will be discussed to include how to detect a commercial motor vehicle drug courier.

Instructors for this program will be experienced Ohio State Highway Patrol officers.
