TRAFFIC STOPS, OFFICER SAFETY, TRAFFIC LAW AND THE CCW LAW

(1 day seminar)

Throughout the United States, hundreds of law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty and thousands are injured as a result of violent physical confrontations with assailants. The FBI’s Uniformed Crime Reporting (UCR) teletypes and bulletins provide an ever present reminder to all of us how dangerous the job can sometimes become. This one (1) day seminar is designed to heighten the awareness of law enforcement professionals to be ever vigilant and alert while performing their traffic stop duties. The seminar will discuss safe and efficient traffic stops to include right side approaches. In addition, officer safety issues will be discussed with emphasis on contact and cover principles. A practical exercise will be conducted utilizing "red-handled gun" scenarios. Finally, an update will be provided on Traffic Law and Ohio's CCW law. Officer safety is everybody's business; it is a survival "attitude" that must be developed, practiced and rehearsed.
